Physical activity is treated as part of the academic programme at HITS rather than an optional extra — it supports the health, stamina and concentration that demanding technical study requires.
Sport at HITS also extends into competition of a more technical kind
Students take part in national-level events including Battle Bots and radio car racing, where engineering design, teamwork and nerve are tested together. Alongside these, the institute runs meditation and wellbeing sessions — including Vipassana practice with Mr. Bhaskara Rao on problem-solving and mental discipline — on the view that focus is trained as deliberately as fitness.
The campus provides outdoor courts and grounds for team and individual sport, a fully equipped gymnasium available to students through the academic year, and regular yoga and meditation sessions. The open, low-density setting at Bogaram gives the institute room for playing fields that inner-city campuses simply cannot offer, and hostel residents have ready access to all of these facilities outside teaching hours.
