Marking the award of UGC Autonomous status on campus.
Autonomy changes what the institute can do
An autonomous college designs its own curriculum, sets and evaluates its own examinations, and revises syllabi without waiting for a university-wide revision cycle — while degrees continue to be awarded by the affiliating university, JNTUH. In practice it means the curriculum can track a fast-moving industry rather than lag it by several years.
HITS uses that freedom deliberately
Its Board of Studies advisory panel seats practising industry leaders — including the CEO of the All India Robotics Association, the CEO of Alwise Automobiles, the CEO of Segritech (Hardware AI) and a Senior Data Scientist from United Parcel Service — alongside academic members, so that syllabus decisions are informed by the technologies students will actually meet at work. The same autonomy underpins the institute’s B.Tech minor degrees and its embedded skill-certificate courses.
