Data Science — Department Profile
The Department of Data Science focuses on data-driven engineering — statistical modelling, predictive analytics, deep learning, Big Data Analytics and MLOps. Students learn to turn raw data into deployable models through in-house project work, working with the tools and pipelines used in industry rather than only in theory.
The department has a strong record of student research
final-year B.Tech students across the institute published 149 research papers in AY 2025–26 from in-house projects, and data science students have worked on live industry problems through programmes such as the five-day Data Science Bootcamp led by Mr. U. Ajay Kumar, Senior Data Scientist, covering Python and machine learning on real production codebases.
The department offers B.Tech CSE (Data Science) and M.Tech Data Sciences, and supports the B.Tech minor in Data Science available to students across other branches.
